Make Time For You: Three Things You Can Do For You
Every day we go through life without taking care of ourselves and without making ourselves a priority. We take care of our husband, wife, kids, sisters, brothers. I can go on, but you get what I am saying. Everything comes first except for us, and why is that?
We put everyone before us and at times that is a must, but now it is time for us to put the focus back on us. I know from personal experience when I worked full time, a student completing my graduate degree, a mom, and wife doing everything. I did a lot during my marriage, so after my divorce, I focused on me and what I wanted for myself. I wanted to enjoy me more and not just be ingrained with motherly duties, work, and everything else in between.
I decided to enjoy life to the fullest by living boldly, traveling, meeting new people and tapping into new adventures. Here are three things that I do that you can do also to have your own time.

Trips
- Take mini trips to another city, state, or country. Depending on where you go, it can be a day or overnight trip. Traveling helps you to enjoy something new, try new foods, meet new people and make awesome memories. This trip can be by yourself or grab a few of your close girlfriends and make it an unforgettable trip. When was the last time you went somewhere or did something just for you?

Me time
- Once a week, take some time out for you. Imagine that you did something wrong and now you must take time to reflect on the thing that you did. It’s like putting your children in time out, but now you are in time out. This time out is great for you to detox from the outside and inside world. Grab your favorite book or binge on your favorite Netflix show. Take this time to do what you desire without interruption.

Self-care
- This encompasses everything that helps you to be a better person. That means getting enough sleep, exercising in any capacity, making the right food choices with small deviations and stimulate your mind by reading or watching something educational or inspiring. Self-care is a daily habit and it should not be neglected.
Question:
What is one thing that you do for you?

Thank you for reminding us to take out the time for self. In my profession I stress this all of the time. I feel like we can let the demands of the world overwhelm us at times and we neglect ourselves. Practicing self care is important in order to be the mother, the friend, wife, etc. we would like to be. I enjoy taking long walks to talk to God and reflect on life. It is so refreshing.

Hi Latrecia,
Thank you for comment and I agree with you, that we do neglect ourselves overtime. I have neglected myself in many way from being a mom, friend and wife, but its time for me to focus on me, which will benefit everyone around me. And, it is important to continue to stress to your clients importance of taking care of one-selves. Tank you for your continuous support!

This is one of my fav reads thus far..not super long but exactly what u needed to read. Its many days after I’ve worked my 11 hr shift, went to my organization meetings, or just doing errands around the house I rarely have time to enjoy my self. Watching you last few posts I’ve learned to just get yo and goooo. Dont let them in and out if daily life takes over too much if your time. Enjoy the money you work for and take an extra day off if you want to!

Hello Nelly,
Thank you for the comment and I have been in your same situation. As a military member, I know about working long hours, then being a mom with school activities, dinner, homework and more. Its is so important for us to take a little time for our selves, and that can be simple as taking fifteen minutes for you. Thanks you and check out my other articles.
