5 Things You Can do to Get Unstuck

Do you feel stuck or feel like nothing great is happening in your life? If you do then you are not alone, we all feel this way at various points in our lives.  Some individuals are currently living in the stuck stage.  Feeling stuck and un-accomplish is a feeling that we don’t want to have to linger in ourselves because it can lead to several things such as depression, anxiety, it creates fear or hinder us from reaching our goal, taking risks, and living life to the fullest.

There have been times in my life where I felt my life was not going anywhere; I felt stuck.  Having that feeling was uneasy for me because I am that go-getter, someone who looks for the opportunity and always look at the brighter side of all negative situations.  So, what do you do when you feel stuck?

Here are five processes that you can do to help you get unstuck:

Journaling– When I was going through my tough time of being anxious due to my vertigo experience, I began to journal.  While journaling, I was able to get my negative thoughts out of my head and it was an amazing feeling.  Journaling also helped me to understand and clarify my feelings about what I was going through.  You want to find a place where there is no interruption from anyone or anything during your journaling time.  The place you select should be free from a family member entering your space, loud noises; it should be a place that brings you calm.  Before you begin to write, you want to power down your electronics.

Finding Your Purpose– Do you know and understand your purpose in life?  Not knowing your purpose can leave you feeling stuck and unsure of yourself.  I’ve been there, and I have questioned myself about what is my purpose, and I’ve asked other people close to me what they thought my purpose was.  I’ve watched lots of videos on finding your purpose and what I have learned about knowing my purpose is that it is based on what excites me.  Helping others succeed in all capacity such as career, business, health maintenance and providing guidance makes me feel happy inside. You need to look at what excites you, what gives you that feeling of fulfillment?

Community Involvement- Helping others in the community assist you and I from removing the unstuck feelings.  The power of being a servant leader and sharing your time with strangers who needs support is a selfless act.  I remember as a young teen I was always wanted to help others and put a smile on their faces.  I was a part of the Big Brother & Big Sister program and the young girl that I mentored needed guidance and support.  When I did a small action for her, she was excited and appreciative.  Moments like those are priceless.

So, find a place in your community where you can provide your service and make an impact on someone’s life.  You can provide the activity of the times you are available, from 1 hour, couple times a week, once a week or one day on the weekend to get involved.  Anytime that you provide to the community, makes a huge difference.

Mentor– If you don’t have a mentor, then I highly recommend you investigate in getting one.  You may ask, what is the purpose of a mentor?  According to Merriam Webster, a mentor is a trusted counselor or guide. You want to find someone who you and relate to, someone who guides you and educate you on making life impacting life decisions.  You need a mentor who will tell you things you don’t want to hear, the truth.  My experience with my mentors has taught me how to handle the various situation, even situations where I was treated unfairly.  You can always change your mentor is he or she is not relatable, or you’re not able to connect to the individual.  A mentor is great to have so get one if you have on already.

Self-Motivation-This is all on you, but you have to dig deep within yourself to fire up your self-motivation.  It can be hard to motivate yourself if you are feeling stuck and but you can get unstuck by finding ways to motivate yourself.  For the next 30 days, you need to look in the mirror each morning and night and tell yourself one positive thing, have positive and motivational quotes around the house and at your job.  On your drive to work listen to inspirational podcasts.  The list is endless when it comes to motivating yourself, but you got this.

Question– Are you feeling stuck in your personal or professional life? If so, why?
