Five Tips to Get Back on Track to Complete Your New Year’s Goals!

 Hello Beautiful People,

Are you continuing with your New Year goals?

I know at the beginning of the year, we all make great goals to start the year off with a bang, and for some reason, we stop taking the necessary steps to accomplish our goals.  Why do we start strong and then fall off our journey?  I can relate, I have started a goal and life happens, and then I am not able to continue with what I set out to do.  What do I mean when I say “Life Happens” it applies to all of us, from parenting, after-school activities, the demands from work, and daily stressors to name a few.  However, I paused and went back to my list, and see how I can adjust to meet a few of my goals.

Well, I am here to share five things that you can do to get back on your New Year journey.

Five Tips to Knock out Your New Year Goals:

Go back to the drawing board Look at your list of goals that you identified at the beginning of the year and think about why you made those goals.  Doing this provides you with a better understanding of the WHY.  Why did you make your goals and what value would they add to your life?

Pick three goals from your list– You want to pick three goals that will add value to your life.  Selecting your top three goals helps you not to feel overwhelmed.  Three goals are not a lot, so they will give you a sense of empowerment and the confidence to get started.  Starting small is the best way to go at times, and you can achieve more by doing a small bit of something.

Set a timeline– Setting a timeline to complete each goal enables you to meet your goal.  You want to set a true time-frame. If one of your goals takes six months, don’t set yourself up for failure by giving yourself three months instead unless it takes you three months to achieve it.

Accountability– Holding yourself accountable is key to meeting your goals.  If you are someone who struggles with holding yourself accountable, then ask a family member or friend to be your accountability partner.  This individual can check-in with you once a week, bi-weekly or on a monthly basis to keep you on track.  When you don’t hold yourself accountable for your actions you get nowhere.

Take action– Now that you have completed tips one through four, it’s time for you to take action.  When you take action, you are setting yourself on the right path to make your goals a reality.  Your actions do not have to be large; it can be something small like spending fifteen minutes working out at home if losing weight is one of your goals.

Doing an hour of research on starting your own business, enrolling in a course to become an expert in your field, buying a program or products to move you forward into your journey are things you can do.  There are so much that you can do to get started and accomplish your goals.

I set goals just like you for the New Year, and I had to look at my list and ask myself, why I have not accomplished some of my goals?  So, I had to apply my five tips to get back on track, and I did.  I was able to make my first YouTube video, do additional research to provide quality and better contents to my audience, purchase products to make my videos and pictures better.

Understand that it will take time for you to meet your goals because taking care of family and work are a big part of your daily routine.

If you fall short, go back to the five tips, and repeat. Enjoy the journey!

I had just one goal this year to make things easier for me. I wanted to visit somewhere I’ve never been to before. So far I’ve fulfilled that goal, and now I can add more. When you start small you have a much greater chance of staying on track than when you have a ton of goals you want accomplished.

      Annmarie John,
Exactly, it is great to start off with small goals because we can accomplish more. I have put myself in situations where I have too many goals at one time that nothing gets done, so I have learned to start off small. What is your next goal that you have listed?
