3 Tips to Stop Wasting Time

Wow, where has the time gone?  I didn’t accomplish anything today!  You, friends, family members and I verbalized these statements frequently.  Are you the individual who procrastinate to complete tasks?  Would you rather surf the web and lay on the couch all day?  Well, if you are,  then it is time for a change.  It is time for you to stop wasting your TIME.  As a newly single mom and working full time, my time is valuable and I have to ensure that I use it to the maximum extent possible.  This is what you should want for yourself!  Time is like a commodity, when it is gone, there is no return and you can’t get it back.  Today is when you say to yourself, “I am done wasting my time and my days will be productive.”  Go on shout it out!  Whether you are a busy mom like me or a busy dad, student, or worker, you can reclaim your time by implementing the following three tips into your daily routine as I did.

  1. Mindset How is your mindset?  You have to be the one to make the decision not to hit that snooze button three or more times before you get out of bed.  I’ve  done it and so have you; I know it is hard not to hit snooze, when your body and mind is on drive mode throughout the day.  However, you have to set you mind on POSITIVE mode to start the progress today.  Starting the process means, taking a self-assessment to identify where you are wasting your time.  When you have a positive mindset you achieve more, you are happier, you inspire others and you are more productive; the list is endless.
  2. Actions This can be hard, but when you apply a positive mindset then the actions will follow automatically.  Action to get up after the first sound of your alarm, action to prioritize your day, action to identify and work on the most important tasks, whether it’s personal or professional.  Lastly, the most important one, action to be present for your love ones!
  3. Say No The power of “NO” is amazing, but too often individuals are afraid to say “NO” to requests and demands that takes up their time.  Saying, “NO” to others, allows you to put that time back into you to achieve new goals, enhanced work performance, build current and new relationships.  In addition, saying “NO” builds confidence and trust in yourself.  With confidence in yourself, you can “DO” anything!

Applying these simple, but effective tips into my daily routine, allowed me to utilized my time to my advantage and so can you.  I applied my newfound time to achieve one of my goals of obtaining the opportunity to teach at an undergraduate school.  It is awesome when you take control on your time, have a positive mindset and say “NO” to people wasting your time.  Remember, you have 24 hours in a day to allocate your time to your benefit.  Apply these three easy tips in the beginning of your day to transform your life and don’t forget you determine how your time is spent!  Checkout this  motivational video (under 6 mins) to motivate you some more and help you get started.

I leave you with one question, what else can you do to stop wasting your time?

    Definitely enjoyed reading
“3 Tips to stop wasting time “ … Managing your time and saying NO is crucial!! The word no actually made me become more creative and resourceful!!! When someone told me no I’m not interested or no l don’t have it to lend, that word made me dig deep down inside. The word no made me determine to figure out whatever situation l was in!! It gave a mindset of always pushing forward and not looking to retreat or a comfort zone. l hated when people told me no, but now I’m in love with the word no because it pushed into a lifestyle of just wanting to conquer any and every obstacle put in front of me. May sound strange, but l enjoy people telling me no,it cant work, it won’t happen, that stuff drives me. Not to prove anyone wrong but to challenge and prove myself right!!! It’s definitely a lifestyle and not a hobby!!

      Hello Shamar,

Thank you commenting and you are right, the power of the word “No” is amazing because it allows you to take control of your time and decisions. Control to do what you want without anyone’s approval or restriction. Love your comment!
